Our HistoryConlon Moving & Storage was founded in 1885 as F.E. Conlon Storage of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The company’s primary function was to transport household goods and pianos. However, if an item fit on the horse-drawn wagon, John Conlon would move it! In 1935, the company received Interstate Commerce commission authority for nine states. Also, in that same year, Conlon became an agent for Grey Van Lines. Over the proceeding years, Conlon grew and expanded. In order to provide their customers with the level of service they have grown to expect the company changed van line affiliation to American Red Ball in 1955. As the company grew and prospered, the name of the company was changed to Conlon Moving & Storage. Not only did the company have a reputation as the area’s premier household goods moving company, its name, as a commercial mover was second to none. To this day, the company enjoys an impeccable reputation as the area’s largest commercial mover.
In order to remain the area’s premier moving company, the decision was made in 1984 to become an agent for United Van Lines. Through this new affiliation, Conlon Moving & Storage could offer their customers that personalized attention, which has always been our trademark, along with the resources of the nation’s largest van line. Accomodating our customers' ever increasing requests for additional services, we acquired an additional warehouse and office complex. This new thirty-five thousand square foot complex in Seekonk, Massachusetts now gave the company three facilities in the greater metropolitan Providence area. An additional 15,000 square foot distribution facility was added in the year 2000.
